Improvement on the Way for Authorizing Medical Treatment

If you have been injured on the job then you are familiar with the numerous delays involved in getting the treatment you need. Finally there have been some improvements put in place by one of the largest workers’ compensation insurance companies in the state, State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF). SCIF is launching software this summer that would allow workers’ compensation treating doctors to get authorizations for patient treatments electronically and in real-time as opposed to waiting days for manual approvals.

Known as UR Connected, the software that was developed by SCIF links directly to medical providers’ information systems to allow staff the option of approving treatment on the spot or sending the request to Utilization Review. This could vastly improve the time it will take for injured workers to get the treatment they need and to get injured workers back to work.
